Heal the Soul

Now as much as I enjoy coffee, chocolate, and food in general, nothing can compare to the perfection of music. It’s absolutely healing. Whenever I’m happy, music decorates my joyous mood, and whenever I’m upset, music seems to wrap itself around those negative problems in life, and pull them away from me, leaving just soft melodies dancing around me.

I’ve compared music to time capsules as well. Sometimes when I shuffle through my library, I find a certain song that reminds me of a day. Yesterday I was listening to “Hung Up” by Madonna. I know I know, what?! But, it brought back memories cause it was really big in its time (still catchy now I think too…), and I found it to remind me of a day in Algebra 1, eight grade. It was almost nostalgic, I remember a couple students in our class making clock hands out of their arms as they sung to the song. I felt like I fit in at the time, because I knew the song.

And even now, I know the songs I listen to today, I’ll look back on, and remember moments in life. “Senior year!” Or, “one of the most interesting summers ever!” Who knows what it’ll be? I know I have bad memory, so if there is any way for me to hold onto the good ones, I’ll do anything I can, even if it means listening to music constantly!

Speaking of music, I’m trying to bring myself back to playing piano. I kind of found myself forgetting about it for a month or so, and I think I’ve lost the little knowledge of music I had. Maybe I should start fresh, by a new piano book, etc. I think being able to create the music time capsules, is even better than discovering them.
