I decided I should keep track of the books I read for once, especially since I’m feeling very read-y this summer. I suppose I should also explain the photo I put up for this post. To the right are an awesome stack of books that I found at Anthropologie a couple weeks ago. Each book’s cover had a design that reflected it’s contents. For example, The Odyssey had waves, and I believe Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland had either keys, keyholes or teapots. Take a closer look of the image here. Now, to get to the point.
Below is a list of books I will hopefully read over the summer of 2010:
- Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer (read)
- Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi (read)
- Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky (read)
- No One Belongs Here More Than You by Miranda July
- Lolita by Vladmire Nabokov (reading)
- Push: A Novel by Sapphire
- Persepolis 2 by Marjane Satrapi (read)
- Angels of America by Tony Kushner (read)
- House of Leaves by Mark Danielewski
- The Brief, Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz
- Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut
- East of Eden by John Steinbeck
- The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner
I’ll definitely add some more once I remember them. Have any recommendations?
[...] of books, I’ve finally read a bunch this week. One book was from my Summer ’10 list, like No One Belongs Here More Than You by Miranda July, which I loved. It was really interesting, [...]
House of Leaves by Mark Danielewski
The Brief, Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz
Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut
Props on Persepolis. So good. Angels in America too.
I totally forgot about House of Leaves! Yay this is why you’re on my friends list in places! haha
And yeah, I read Persepolis a few years ago, but I’m rereading since it’s part of the list of books that we’ll be reading in my college class (along with the sequel, and Angels in America). I can tell it’s going to be an awesome class already.
